They had their resume posted and were contacted by the company.

They applied to the company after researching; they found it legitimate.

They received a call for an interview, which turned out to be conducted on Microsoft Teams.

Initially, they were contacted via text with a virtual meeting link.

They went through the interview process, answered all the questions, and received an email from the company's representative.

They verified their existence on the company's website.

They did their due diligence by checking out the company and the person they communicated with.

However, things took a turn when they required personal information, including a driver's license and Social Security number, for a background check.

They provided the information, assuming it was just a part of the normal process.

Despite sharing personal details, there is still no job offer.

It was concerning that they asked for personal information before making an official offer.

They became skeptical when they asked for their bank information, so they decided to stop the proceedings.

WARNING SIGNS TO SPOT JOB SCAMS

There are several warning signs to spot job scams.

For example, if you are contacted for a job without applying for it, the job probably doesn't exist.

Similarly, if the job offer seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Lastly, if the interviewer asks for sensitive personal information upfront, you know you have a scammer on the other end.

Job seekers must be proactive and take steps to protect themselves from job scams.

It is critical to verify the legitimacy of the company, job listing, and interviewer as much as possible.

You can do this by researching the company's website, LinkedIn profiles of existing employees, and even by verifying emails or phone numbers used to contact you.

Remember, diligence and awareness are your best friends while looking for your dream job.
